I thought this had everything going for it. I’ve drunk 4 bottles of this vintage brfote and all were excellent. Quite surprised as 2008 didn’t have a great reputation. Certainly enjoyed more than most of the 2009 clarets I’ve had which seem slightly blowsy in comparisons n

Sturdy, tannic and firm this was super fresh with delicious black fruit. As it opened up the tannins melted away to reveal black chocolate and spice. Savoury and well balanced, showing typical Pauillac class. CHP 91 pts

If one subscribes to the notion that Lynch Bages is the poor man’s Mouton, and that GPL is therefore the pauper’s Lynch Bages, then is this the indigent’s GPL?
Anyway, extremely classic for Pauillac. A greener vintage perhaps but the sort I like. Little bit of haw, blackberry but graphite in spades. Cool and clean on the palate. Not intense nor particularly long but hey at $56SGD (thanks BBX) once again who is complaining - not me that’s for sure. 13% also extremely welcome. Not going to win any awards but drinking extremely well for a casual Sunday.

This was fine but did not stand out in any way. Didn’t feel 15 years old.

Decanted. Still lots of oak. Pretty ripe; showing lots of cassis and bramble. Structure is there.
