  This wine is no mass-produced, characterless product; rather, it's concentrated, delicious ripe juicy fruit delivering an abundance of tart black cherry and blueberry couched in velvety, earthy, & licorice-like tannins with a long, peppery finish having pointed acidity. Yes, it's become all that after a decade in the bottle -- it's hard to stop drinking! No decant; left open in the bottle. I love the clarity of this wine; full-bodied, yet polished. The grenache component (25%) was matured in stainless steel to preserve the fruit (methinks the screw-cap helped); the shiraz was matured in 2-3 year old oak barrels. For those who've held on to this wine: congratulations, you've been rewarded.

  P & P. Tart at first, backward fruit. Had a glass-and-half, vacuvinned and refrigerated for five days. Holds up well. Not at all bad, but not particularly interesting. Would not repurchase.

  Reading other peoples' tasting notes, I decanted this 2 hours before pouring. It still needed a good 30-45 minutes in the glass before it deserved the 90. Before it opens up, it has a distinctive medicinal flair. Once it has a chance in the glass, it is still fruit forward, with lots of cherry notes, but the medicinal nose goes away, and it becomes lovely and smooth.
  
  Still a little rich and sweet. Did really well with a Chorizo Smoked Paprika pasta sauce.
