  • Oh boy is this good. 12.5 pct alcohol, so bloody elegant and then again so archetypical N Rhone with beef blood, iodine, game notes but zero Brett. If there was a role model for great aged Cote Rotie this would be it. Going strong and improving with time in glass so neither a hurry to drink nor a crime to pull the cork. Beautiful.

  • The nose on this alone warrants serious consideration. Amazing combination of spice, floral notes, smoke, beef, blended red and dark fruit. Outstanding

  • This is my first Jamet and, while I don’t have experience with other bottles or vintages, I’m pretty confident something was off with this bottle. The main issue was that it was very muted, with little in the way of aromatics and was relatively dumb on the palate. No noticeable TCA taint. This was a pop and pour of a 55 degree F bottle into Zalto universal glasses (in my experience the universals are better suited to Northern Rhône wines than my Zalto Burgundy glasses- curious if others agree). Even after an hour in the glass, with a good amount of swirling, there was very little movement (it might have opened a bit but that might have been my imagination). Not sure if I should have slow-oxed or decanted, but I thought a 26 year old bottle wouldn’t need that, and didn’t see recent notes suggesting slow ox or decanting as important. Marking as flawed and hoping my remaining bottles show more along the lines of others’ experiences here.

  • Good dark fruits, campfire, spice. A lot of depth to this wine. 98 a great year and this is singing and in the zone. At peak and expect it to be here for a while. Plenty of structure and acid in this wine balanced nicely by lots of fruit.

  • Northern Rhone Dinner (2012/2005/1998 focus) (Chez Lagragne): Corked. Ugh, bummer is this smelled so good when the cork was pulled a few hours ahead of service, but alas the TCA bloom was profound and devastating.
