  • Coravin'd for an hour. This bottle had been previously "accessed" over a year ago. Totally opaque, "black hole" color with a very thin, purple-tinged rim. A high-toned nose of pan roasted Indian spices, smoked sage and anise. Viscous and soft on the palate , the flavors include licorice-tinged black and red fruit--bright and liveley--with crisp acidity and bakers chocolate-like tannins. Quite long and dry on the finish. A remarkable first effort. Drink now through 2018.

  • Coravin'd for 2 hours. Deep purple/black right to a very thin clear rim. Smoking sage, anise and cooked black fruit are just part of the aromatic show. A very rich, soft and velvety texture greets the palate leading to bright, juicy flavors of fresh black fruit, roasted spices and a citrus-like high note. The acidity is lively and the tannins are all but fully resolved, I would drink this soon while the balance is excellent. Now through 2017.

  • From Morgan's first vintage as Bedrock. I remember tasting a barrel sample of this with him in May of 2008 at Lake Tahoe. Coravin'd 2 hours. Deep purple black right to the a very thin clear rim. Smoked sage, anise and cooked black fruit are just part of the aromatic show. A very rich, soft and velvety texture greets the palate leading to bright, juicy flavors of fresh black fruit, roasted sweet spices and a hint of citrus oil. The acidity is lively and the tannins all but fully resolved, I would drink this soon while the balance is so excellent. Now through 2017.

  • 14.4 % alc., 1% co-fermented Kick Ranch Viognier, 25% whole cluster, 2 barrels produced. Decanted 2 hours. Bright purple-tinged ruby. Ripe and savory nose of jammy fruit, sweet spice, lavender with a pretty floral element. Initial flavor impression is juicy and viscous but not at all heavy. Spiced ripe plums, a touch of bakers chocolate show nice lift and supple tannins. While this has the structure for more short term development it is open for business tonight. Drink now through 2014.

  • 14.4 alc. 1% Viognier, 25% whole cluster. 2 barrels produced. Decanted two hours.Vibrant crimson/purple with a nose of citrus peel, licorice, lavender and sweet spices that's bright and lively. Soft red and black fruit flavors are light on their feet, perfectly balanced and not-at-all heavy. This feminine effort is immaculately constructed, long on the palate while maintaining a lovely lightness. Delicious now but who knows what secondary developement will bring? 91+. I plan to wait a few years before opening another one. 2011-2015?
