Pale golden colour. Plenty of bubbles. Fruity nose of green apple, pear and notable yeast residue. Delicious, lively, long-lasting. A routine and affordable Champagne.

Super low budget (12.99€) off label champagne produced by Maison Burtin which belongs to Lanson BCC.
No disgorgement dates obviously, so you never know what you get. DIAM cork.
Upon opening some slight vinegar notes luckily not in the glass anymore. At first some intense but compressed bouquet. Autolytics and sweetness…
With a bit time the bouquet became actually decent, some apple and gooseberry notes with a subtle toast character.
The palate unfortunately shows the deficit of low budget champagnes. The body and aftertaste is always somewhat lacking. There is some gooseberry flavour and a bit too much dosage. Sadly, there is almost no acidity to give any counterpoint to this mix. The mid and finish are rather short and flat leaving you with the candied dosage impression.
So in conclusion its a cheap glimpse into the champagne world but ultimately a good cremant will probably be a better choice. The grapes used are obviously good quality hence the nice bouquet but its most likely the tails from one of Lanson BCCs bigger operations.

Pale gold. Great nose, plenty of apple and pear, crisp and a little musky. Nice taste, quite cidery which is no bad thing. Plenty of acidity, sweet apple, a little elderflower. This has a bit of maturity and plenty of character for the price. Not bad at all. [Cork + cage; 12.5% abv; Sainsbury's, £14].

A slightly old bottle, judging by oxidation on the cage and the slightly shrunken cork - always a possibility with convenience stores. Pale ivory colour. Strongly musky, toasty nose. Quite good taste, very biscuity with sweet lime. Drinks well, good value. [Cork + cage; 12.5% abv; Sainsbury's Extra, £15.50].
