If thesis what an old vine zin can be with some age on it, I'm all in. Wow. This was delicious. The red and black fruits are beautiful and the tannins and alcohol provide just enough bite. The pepper and brambly flavors I move in Papera zins sing in this wine and a hint of something resembling graphite appears. The finish held on forever.
Dark ruby color. Brambly berries, pepper, vanilla, black cherries, licorice, a touch of earthiness and a nice floral note on the very open and inviting nose. Full body with ripe tannins and nice acidity. Loaded with rich and peppery berries on the palate. Ripe but not syrupy. Very Carlisle like. Nice length on the finish. Seems to have improved from last bottle, close to a year ago. Drinking very nicely.
Dark ruby color. Brambly berries, cherries, vanilla, white pepper, and a floral note on the nose. Full body with soft, ripe tannins and decent acidity. Fruit is redder and spicier on the palate and finish then the nose would lead you to believe. A touch soft, so I don't think this is a candidate for long term cellaring, but that doesn't matter because the wine is delicious now.
