Normally not a big fan of Burgundy wines but this offers a nice non-offensive experience. Classic molden smell although you sense a bit of fruit as well. Medium tannins, great taste with the just the right length keeps your mouth very pleased! Highly recommended for folks like me that normally prefer the wines of the warmer part of the globe, but wish to dip into a French wine once in a while.
Very nice Burgundy from Volnay in Cote de Baune. A light wine with a lovely bouquet of red fruit and mold storming up of the glass. Its one of those wines that gives me more on the nose than in the mouth, but then again I could sit with the glass a hole evening and just take in the bouquet. If I had got a little more on the palate and the finish, which also was very nice, I would have considered/gladly had given it 1-2 points more.
color: medium intensity, garnet, slowly fades to white watery miniscus nose: med+ intensity, tobacco, prince edward cherry tobacco, little cherry fruit palate: dry, acid is med tannin is med+ body is med alc et 13.5 finish med+ ... long, tobacco-rich, and a bit jammy
Style: Slightly tannic wine, very rich in minerals and earth, has noticable yet well crafted tannins that are delarative yet in balance with the medium acidity. Excellent structure, finesse, intensity of flavor, and overall balance between the fruit, acid, subtle oak, and tannin. Good concentration of rich berry (dark) fruit.
