Allowed to breathe in glass 30 minutes before tasting. Clear blood-ruby color with heavy sediment remaining in bottle. Initial bouquet of beef blood and camphor blew off after a half hour to reveal pleasant notes of tart red fruit, tomatoes, grilled herbs, creosote. Similar on the palate, juicy acidity with resolved tannins, medium body, medium finish. Syrah, carignane, mourvedre.

Still showing extremely well. The wine is ever so slightly moving beyond peak, but appears to have 2-3 years of life before a drop in pleasure. Ruby/brick, nose and flavors a dead ringer for a top Cotes du Rhone Villages. Long finish with just a brush of tannin. Drank well from the start, peaked at the three hour mark. Regret not buying more Bottle was purchased soon after release and kept in my cool cellar.

($16) Remarkable Rhone-like nose. Dead ringer for Saint Joseph. Has a similar acidic quality in the finish, not to mention the nose. Parker suggests drinking for 4-5 years and likens it to Crozes-Hermitage. Dried cherry and herbs. Seems more expansive day two b
