It always the same with Freisa, is the youth harsh and tannic, but with some age pure, clean and inciting fresh. For sure this wine is masculin, but great, cherries and notes of earth, underwood and minerality. Very pure and straight forward, with depths and a very good structure. This is not like a melrot from South Afrika, this is like a pure, powerful and classic Nebbiolo. I like it so much, because it's not a modern marshmellow wine, this wine has style and character.

This reminds a bit of a sparkling white, but its red and it feels a bit like it should be more bitter, but its actually sweet tasting. The range of opposites makes it enjoyable, but maybe not outstanding. To our noses it felt that it was expressing strawberry, raspberry and violets. The taste was frizzy, a bit acidic, sweet and almost dry with a low-feeling tannin level. The bitter/sweet dynamic continued in the aftertaste where it felt fruity/floral afterwards. This is 14% alcohol and 100% Freisa grape, with two fermentings that makes it sweeter and slightly bubbly. So, it felt true to the grape characteristics. This would be worth getting again to surprise and/or stump people at a tasting. But, it didn't seem like an everyday wine. E liked it better, maybe a 92 on her scale. This was based on tasting it over two nights.

A dichotomy of a wine. This has great, rustic fruit of cherries and notes of earth and smoke. And a nice floral bouquet. But the texture is overly dry and and the tannins somewhat harsh. A bit like walking on gravel with bare feet--not really painful but not like walking on sand.
