  • Sweet with a slight dryness at the end, great with pasta!

  • Showed some green fruit on the finish when opened but smoothed out as it sat in the glass. May decant the next one.

  • Partner Review:

It pours a deep garnet with some slight haze. The aroma, however, does not penetrate very deeply, showing hints of butter, charcoal, leather, chalk/crayon, dark currants and sweet meat. The flavor is black cherries and earth with a bit of residual sugar and acid.

It's got a little of everything good - body, some earthy scents, a bite of fruit on the tip of the tongue without being overly sweet - it just doesn't seem to go anywhere. Unmemorable moments after sipping. Not at all unpleasant, but it definitely doesn't stand out on its own. Food opens this wine up like a confessional booth on Sunday! Steak and potato salad paired very well, turning this into a great table wine.

  • Drinking this wine was like listening to a small child tell a story - it started off slow, then had a burst of flavors that trailed off and left me wondering what, exactly, had happened. The look is a very deep garnet with a bit of haze. The nose shows leather, tobacco, blackberries and earthy, meaty tones with a bit of alcohol. The flavors take some time to develop, and when they hit rush past the fruit to get to a peppery meat finish that rushes out too quickly. Some leather holds it together throughout.

It ultimately proved to be a decent food wine as it was much improved by the steak and potato salad we had with it, as well as some gouda we snacked on afterwards.
