  • From Magnum....wasn't expecting too much as the last bottle was a bit dim. That immediately changed after the first sniff/sip...OMG this is a true mind bender and highlights the genius of a vineyard & winemaker at the height of their powers. I don't know if I'll ever try this bottle again given it's rarity but good lord was this a tremendous experience!!!!

  • Herbs on the nose that eventually converge to something minty. Dusty tannins with a long and captivating finish. Drinking especially well now, not sure if there's much fruit left for later.

  • Another wine that has hit its stride! The weird weight to tannin issue has resolved itself into a nice weight to the now dusting tannins. This makes the tannin feel as though the wine is sitting atop a very sturdy backbone. There is just so much on the nose and something different seems to pop out every time I returned to the glass. The grip of tannins went excellent with crispy skin of the duck we prepared to have with this. 2005's have been less heralded in my wine circles but this was just singing when paired with rustic fare.

  • Very good showing. Very aromatic: lots of cherries, wet earth, cranberries, savory herbs, and almost an animalfat character. The tannins are still pretty gripping but there is a nice background acidity. Would love to see how this is in a few years.
