Expressive and complex Pessac, already approachable and well made. Remaining a bit behind the last bottle, but still complex and well structured. Ink, tar, violet yielding into lovely mature cherries, liquorice, chocolate, cinnamon and sous-bois. Already a pleasure to drink and potentially further evolving over the next 5 years.

Palate: blackberry, plum, light tobacco, dried bay leaf; medium+ finish tobacco, pepper, dried herbs, light clove, graphite; dry; full- body; high grippy tannins that cling to and dry my mouth on the finish; high- acidity
Overall thoughts: Nice balance of darker and not too ripe fruit with earthy notes. Good body. Structure is a bit overbearing at this point and this wine crave some fatty red meat, or at least more air and or time in the bottle. This seems to be just starting it's journey to greatness and has a very long life ahead of it. Pretty great wine.

Palate: blackberry, baking spices, cedar, graphite, slight vegetal; med finish of plum and blackberry; full - body, smooth yet grippy; high tannin; med acid
Overall: good and hits the spot for a left bank Bordeaux but not outstanding or overly complex. Very structured, has a lot of life left in it. Will pair great with some fatty red meat.

Expectations were not enormously high considering the vintage, but we were taught otherwise. An elegant, expressive and complex Pessac, already approachable and well made. Ink, tar, violet yielding into lovely mature cherries, liquorice, chocolate, cinnamon and sous-bois. Already a pleasure to drink and potentially further evolving over the next 5 years. With hindsight, the relatively affordable 2008s prove to be an excellent pick.

Beautiful fruit, tannins abated, smooth mouthfeel, full to medium bodied, developing secondary notes. This wine is in a very good place right now.
