Better and better. Hard to believe that a 32 year old wine has such youthful vitality. Oh, but the cork, the cork. I have lots of experience with vintage port, but these narrow Taylor necks are a particular challenge, costing me 2oz of this precious nectar almost every time

4th Saturday Brown Bagger (J&S’s): Deep ruby red color with notes of kirsch, licorice, blueberry and plum. Full-bodied. Plum, fig, raspberry , kirsch, clove and spice on the palate with a finish that sails on. Gorgeous. 96+ pts. (R&D)

Ruby colored, young to the eye. Plum, coffee, touch of sweet tobacco, delicate balance of heat and sugar, very long, warm finish. Really, really good. Tasted from 375ml. Not a port expert, but this seems like it has runway.

Given the very high ratings given to this wine I was curious to see how I would like it. My experience was not the same as was experienced by members in recent posts. The problem may have been a result of the cork which was bone dry and totally disintegrated as I removed it from the bottle. I purchased all of my bottles at auction and I hope other bottles have much better corks. The wine was not singing for me and seemed very young and closed. Nothing particularly wrong, just not the spectacular experience I was hoping for. I will wait several years before trying another another bottle.

Deep, deep red - almost black! Wonderful fruit with the tannins holding everything together so the sweetness doesn’t become overbearing. No rough edges at all, everything beautifully integrated. A lovely punch of alcohol warmth at the end.
