Tried again after 3 days open in fridge - I'm getting way more from the nose now - honey, wax, acacia and a lot of lemon. However, the mid palate is still bland, although it wakes up a bit on the finish. Sorry Jeanne, but I'm just not that into you.
Pale lemon gold color - lots of ripe peach on nose right after opened, along with a bit of honey. Full bodied, lots of fruit on palate with white pepper, maybe clove. A bit hot on the finish. It is what it is at $18.
After five hours of slowly drinking its beautiful. Alright, it was beautiful during those five hours too. But now at its peak. Honey, mineral and almost showing a trace of Chardonnay (of which I believe it has a tiny little 1% addition). But lengthy and complex. Deep in its but quiet in its flavors. Intricate. Worth way more than $18. Getting more fleshy and powerful from the first day I had it.
Nose reminds me of fresh fruit tart with a buttery crust. The citrus fruit has a sour component too. A smooth, creamy mouthfeel with a waxy lemon that is really light on its feet. Full midpalate. A bit of papaya flavor in there. White pepper on the finish. Good stuff.
