The bouquet has some creamy impressions, cassis an a light dose of good oak. On the palate red and dark fruits, tobacco and some bell pepper. Firm acidity and tannin. Medium bodied at best. Correct, but not really impressive wine. 87 for today.
I'm finishing this now - it's a bit better than last night, when it was a real Tightus Andronicus. The nose is still quite mute: sweaty leather, oregano and just hints of cassis. Still very tannic, the fruit pokes its nose out one sip out of two, with notes of wild strawberry and cassis. Quite a hollow middle section, then a finish which as yet is dominated by the tannins. I'm worried about the lack of sweetness behind the tannic cloak, but this could turn out ok. More in hope than in great confidence, I'll give it 87 pts for now, but not to be touched for another three or four years.
Wonderful wine that is drinking in early maturity. Subtle and gentle with immaculate balance. This has great proportion and reasonable alcohol. Not a blockbuster but I find this far more appealing than the 2010 version of this wine drunk last month due to its maturity and balance. I don't know if this will improve, but it will certainly change.... Really nice and a winner with lamb rack and green bean-radish salad.
