The nose is a bit smokey and the fruit a bit lean and leaves the mouth with quite drying tannins. It's hard to see this improving as its not very well balanced, not unpleasant but too much wood for the fruit

From 375ml. This was very enjoyable. Quite developed but understandable given readiness of 2007 vintage and 375ml bottle. Blind in 750ml, I would have guessed 2001. Some lovely forest floor and floral notes, quite secondary but still decent fruit. It has some of the balsamic notes you usually expect from greater appellations after 10 years. Very noticeable wood though, quite smoky. Score reflects enjoyment but this was more developed than expected.

NIce deep clear ruby color, with hints of pink at the edges. after one hour, nose was herbaceous and grassy, with hints of red fruit. Tart and lean on the palate, with saline and savory notes on long mineral finish. After three hours, the wine opened up considerably, but it's still obviously very young. Needs another year or two to open up.

This is more reductively stinky than smokey, pretty much all resolved and ready, decent but little to catch the attention

Raveneau Foret and 2007 Tollot Beaut (Arlequin Wine Merchant, San Francisco): Light center, some browning. Floral aromatics with some pine needles. Then on the palate, all smoky, charred wood and a hint of cherry fruit. Sorry, but not enough guts to stand up to this sort of cooperage.
