Beautiful cola colour; nose of dark Christmas cake - figs, dates, vanilla, nutmeg, raisins and rum; palate follows nose; well balanced; medium finish; great value; delicious

It says "Very Sweet" right on the label, and they're not kidding. This remarkable PX is really sweet and really syrupy, like date syrup in both texture and flavour, with additional dried fruit notes of raisin and prune complemented by honey (manuka, in particular), molasses, and carob, with a curious metallic/salty note on the finish. For all the sweetness, though, there's decent structure supporting the syrup, with a pleasant dryness coming through later on the palate and providing a much-needed break between sips. It's a bit gritty and just too sweet for its own good (even if that's the point of "Very Sweet" PX), but it's rather impressive if chilled well (30-45 minutes in the fridge). It's in the 90-91 range, and it just needed a bit more fruit complexity to lighten up the raisin/prune/date-honey-molasses richness.
Osborne says the average vintage age is six years, but the depth and overall power suggest that through the Solera system there's some really old wine in here.

Intense and quite syrupy. Sweet prunes and toffee, perhaps some chokolat. Long finish with coffee. Paired very well with madagascar vanilla icecream. We were 3 guys and finished it within 45 mins. Great PX with lots of aging potential.

Pretty abysmal. Toffee syrup. Hard to finish. Might toss the bottom half
