Nose shows some cassis and sweet cherries, also secondary notes from the barrel ageing (primarily vanilla). Medium bodied on the palate with dark fruits. Tannins appear smooth and give a warm sweetness. No spectacular finish but overall enjoyable.

(Château Fombrauge (St Emilion)) Some broad and open fruit character here, smoky and concentrated, with a slightly gamey edge to the fruit. The palate is soft, supple, creamy, with lots of texture and underneath it a pile of extracted tannins as well. There is acidity here, but a lot of other structure to it as well. Really grippy in the finish. A distinctively rich style, lacking a little fruit freshness for me, but there is still promise here.
