From young vines Ruchottes Chambertin, this is anything but a 1er Cru. The aromatics are bright and complex, the palate velvety, and the finish as long as the diva’s death scene in an Italian opera. The earthy/forest floor, developed Burgundy note is just starting to develop, but that touch of funk is just enough to add color to the fruit, and add intellectual interest beyond the palate pleasure. Overall this is a beautiful wine, and I wish I had bought more when I had the chance. It’s also a good gauge to know that it’s still a few years too soon to broach the “true” Grand Cru bottlings.

Starting to develop a bit of gamy funk but still plenty of fruit and freshness to carry it. Could be even more interesting in a few years but very enjoyable now!

Attractive dark fruit, primrose florals, violet, brown sugar, graceful and energetic. Young Ruchottes at its best. 93-94

Super floral with flowers, animal, coffee beans and spice. So dense, powerful and expressive. Very sexy and feminine.
