Marquis d'Angerville Tasting and Lunch (Restaurant Fitzgerald *, Rotterdam, NL): Harvested from the 25th of August (the earliest since 1893), deep and spicy, earth and truffle, adequate acidity, feels fresh, hint of black tea, really complete, ripe tannins provide the backbone, fragrant finish with excellent length. Showing very well today.

Crimson in color. 13.5% ABV. Beautiful nose of red fruits, flowers, minerals and damp forest floor. Medium body with exquisite acidity. Fresh and fruit forward. Black cherry, strawberry, spice and earth on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. Absolutely beguiling Burgundy from a problematic vintage that has aged beautifully. Best over the next 2-4 years.

Bricking colored edges with deep red core. Nose starts out with blackcurrant and a hint towards cabernet sauvignon, paired with vanilla and oak. This blows away after a couple of hours of decanting. Turns into more developed notes of tea, malt, and leather. Hints of liquorice and cigar box. Utterly enticing and ever changing. Palate has lots of tannins and plenty of concentrated partially developed fruit. Long, linguering finish.

Lots of very ripe black cherry on nose and palate. Very dense and concentrated, but also slightly roasted. This retains good acidity and balance. Good now. Slightly softer, silkier on the 2nd night.
I have one more bottle and (given its acidity and concentration) am inclined to cellar it for another decade+ to see if it transforms from a good wine into something more exciting.
