Medium-light reddish garnet in color with a slight amber tint & distinct clearing at the edges. Full, forward & fragrant nose of mature, ripe fruit aromas of cherries & strawberries with overtones of cigar box notes of cedar & tobacco, earthy/dusty/loam, leather, herbs & a hint of smoky notes in the background. Medium bodied with a good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, mature, ripe fruit flavors of sweet cherries & tart cranberries with herbs, minerals & a hint of oak. Lingering dry finish. Drinks relatively well at present but at 53 years of age, it appears on its decline, so best to drink up soon. Ullage was at upper shoulder right below neck; cork was stained 3/4 & crumbled upon opening.

This pours light garnet in the glass. The nose is fairly low intensity but what is there is mature and complex and lovely. Aromas are of red currant, red cherry, sweet cedar shavings, green leaf, a touch of tobacco, and a whisp of old leather. The palate is very light and bright, entering on sweet and tart red fruit, with virtually zero remaining tannin and medium plus, tart red fruited acid. The finish is a tad clipped with some green bitterness and a vague metallic sensation. Overall we have a very old style and light, mature bottle of bordeaux. The low intensity of the nose and the bitter green and metallic notes hold this back a little, but it's still a pleasant drink that has aged gracefully.

Bottle: Winebid purchase with pushed up cork and mid shoulder fill so low expectations. I don't remember what I paid but I'm sure it wasn't much... Color: Pretty ruby/garnet with no browning. A pleasant surprise. Nose: Somewhat shy with strawberries, flowers, herbs and earth. Palate: A bit thin and tart but still enjoyable. Flavors echo the nose with a long sweet finish that reveals some lingering tannins. Overall: Amazing considering it's age and provenance.

Clear light red with pink edges. Medium intense, hardwood floor and old furniture funk, roasted plums and a dusty warehouse nose. Roasted plum and thyme flavours and a long dry finish.
Great.
