Overall a great wine, aging with grace though lacks acid. Sweat, almost syrupy, with notes of honey, passion fruit, ripe mango and candied fruit (orange/pineapple) and a light petrol note. My critique is it lacks acid to cut through the fatty sweetness. Best paired with spicy food.
Great wine, drinking well now but could take maybe another 5-8 years to bring out more petrol.
On the nose this is like sniffing a quarry. This is very light on its feet and goes down easy. Red apples, minerals with a soft creamy finish. This drinks much better young than the '09 but I'm not sure there is enough stuffing here to go the distance.
Amazing stuff - chilled it shows little, but as it warms this develops deeply hued beauty of layered stone, acid and incredibly balanced sugars - and then by paying attention the depth becomes profound. Superior.
Seems the challenge on many of these is the demand for pleasure lies with the drinker. Because they drink so easily, one can mindlessly quaff away simply enjoying the immediate pleasures provided. But when stopping that and concentrating, well there lies he true beauty of the experience. Insane.
