PnVnD. Very dark inky purple with glass staining viscosity. Aromatic nose of meat, leather, some mint, and eucalyptus. Mellow tannins with a plush mouthfeel. Better as a food wine. Noticeably better on the 2nd night after Vacuvin/fridge. I think I'll try my next bottle in a year.
Stuck between a 92 and 93.y wife gives it the higher and I give it the lower. Rich wine drinking beautifully now. Not overly extracted but full of flavor from blackberries to tar to twigs and everything in between. The nose is less developed than the body with a finish that is not overly indulgent. I had this with a hanger steak, Pittsburgh Med Rare and it was the perfect match. Might be less than perfect with something fuller, like rack of lamb.
I am truly sad to see this one go. It has been one of my best QPR purchases. Loved by everyone. This is one of those that you got 4 hoping that it would be good and later wished that you had gotten a case.
