  • Kleur: Duidelijke verkleuring, subtiel oranjerood. Aroma / bouquet: Opvallend tertiaire neus waarin een aangenaam medicinale toets als eerste opvalt, tegelijkertijd stoer. Smaak / Afdronk: Mondvullend. Aangename zuurgraad, krachtige, wat korrelige tannines. Verfijnd. Natte bosgrond en champignons. Veel lengte. Algemeen / potentieel: Aangename, waardige grijsaard, in niets exceptioneel. 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 11 + Smaak / Afdronk: 17 + Algemeen / potentieel: 8 = 91/100

Colour: Clear discolouration, subtle orange-red. Aroma / bouquet: Striking tertiary nose in which a pleasant medicinal touch is the first thing you notice, but at the same time sturdy. Taste / Aftertaste: Mouth-filling. Pleasant acidity, powerful, somewhat grainy tannins. Refined. Wet forest floor and mushrooms. Lots of length. General / potential: Pleasant, dignified old man, nothing exceptional in anything. 50 + Colour: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 11 + Taste / Aftertaste: 17 + General / potential: 8 = 91/100

  • Took to Bones Steakhouse for my buddy's 60th birthday. I initially received this bottle as a 50th birthday gift from him and held it in my cellar for 9 years just for this occasion. Benjamin the wine steward handled this bottle with perfection. A perfect uncorking followed by a quick pour. This wine still has legs and lots of life to it as it held up very well in the glass over the course of drinking for over 30 minutes. Initially, this wine came off with lots of tart cherry with some sanguine secondary notes of iron and earth with a relatively short finish. BUT....when this was paired with foie gras this wine morphed into something magical to the point of being etherial. Upon initial tasting I scored this wine a 95. But after pairing with the foie gras it soared to 98+. Probably one of the most if not the most memorable tastings I've ever experienced. As close to perfection as I could ever imagine with a long lingering polished finish. A word of advice to those who are in possession of early vintages of this wine....do yourself a favor and pair this well as it truly makes all the difference. Drink up as this won't get much better !

  • Mineral, blue clay, hint of iron, so complex it’s unreal. Soft nose that just intensifies at the back. Not as much iron as some pomerols.

  • Same bottle as Nutty08. Really pretty showing. Clean, aromatically fresh, even a little lifted for Bordeaux. You have some light roast coffee, spearmint, and plum. It’s a little monochromatic, maybe a little lacking in density, but just delightful at the same time.

  • Wonderful bottle. Seems fully mature with leather and plum notes mixed with some mint (mint in Merlot?). Quite light and elegant on the palate despite the ripeness and plush texture. Texture is where this stands apart. Gets a little short and clipped on the finish as it has a little iron mineral note that comes out keeping this was being a next level wine. Quite good and wonderful experience to finally taste a Petrus.
