Megamoon Part I: Napa; 10/13/2015-10/16/2015 (Napa Valley California): Amazing what a bit of age can do for a Cabernet. This was drinking pretty well although still a bit young tasting. It has the blackberry that seems to come through quite often, just a hint of alcohol although suspect if we'd given it more time would have blown off. There's a maturity to it so that the flavors aren't terribly different than the '11 and yet everything here is a bit more integrated with each other. Drinking well.
An excellent bottle. Upon opening, was a bit hot and tight, but that went away after 15 minutes. Recommend 1 hr of decanting. Full bodied, mouth coating wine. Tannins are there, but not overpowering. Really a very good balance between fruit and tannin.
The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like violet. It tastes like mushroom. The body is medium/full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.
