Huge and intriguing nose of apricot, honey, peach, sherry, white flowers, caramel. Full-bodied, unctuous, lovely wine with replays from nose and a creamy texture. Long finish, ~50+ second. Delicious stuff, I'm sad to say this was my last bottle! (440 views) | | | Tasted by futronic on 12/8/2008 & rated 94 points: Ruddy orange/amber colour. This bottle oddly threw a ton of sediment. Aromas of apricot, honey, brandy, banana, and peach. Full-bodied, unctuous, very sweet yet balanced with good acidity. Peach, apricot, caramel, salt, maple syrup, and cream on the palate. Long finish, ~40-45s. Delicious! So viscous up front it is absolutely cut away by the piercing acids that lead to a bright yet incredibly persistent finish with roasted glazed apricot, toasted coconut, and chewy, buttery pastry crust notes. Singular. (1017 views) | | | Tasted by rcl1 on 1/7/2007: 97 points. Had at Janet Riccio's apt after dinner. Unbelievable!!! Had with cheese and fruit because crepes were not made yet. Balanced, honey, apricots. Delicious. (1159 views) | | | Tasted by AndrewSGHall on 6/27/2005: Wine drinking night w/ Phil (Gentile's): Yum. Honey and bright acids. Malty notes and nuts. Very complex and totally delicious. Long finish with more malt syrup and fruit acids. Super yum. (2534 views) | | | Tasted by Anonymous on 3/20/2005: I have never seen a wine this color. It is cloudy and has the deep orange color of a peach liquor, but with lemon and green highlights! (2608 views) |
| By Lyle Fass Rockss and Fruit (1/10/2004) (Dal Forno Romano "Nettare") When I think of nectar this is the color I envision. What is on this nose? Varnish, apricot, pear, pear essence, stewed apple, vanilla (not the oaky type), deep minerality on this ever changing nose. Unctous, Unctous, Unctous but with unreal acidity. Ripe, Ripe, Ripe but with almost Eiswein-like acidity. Flavors of persimmon, mango, papaya, custard and allspice on the palate. So complex and ripe. Very long finish that just tapers away. This is one of the most amazing desert wines I have ever had. | NOTE: Scores and reviews are the property of Rockss and Fruit. (manage subscription channels) |
