Medium ruby color, tending towards garnet. Reticent on the nose with some ripe red fruit and forest floor notes. Medium bodied on the palate and juicy but with a slight astringency towards the end.

Gotta say that I’m in the camp that believes this one is past its prime. I thought it might blow off as it opened but sadly it held the same. Might have been a winner in its heyday but this bottle did not age gracefully.

ESTG does Red Burgundy (Bellevue, WA, USA): This shows the ripe vintage with a freshly baked fruit pie. Mmm, this has wonderful fruit, ripe and generous but not overripe or too roasted. Long, long with buckets of fruit.

Method: pop and pour; cellar tempt; red/bdx wine glass
Nose: barnyard, black cherry, wet forest floor, faint mint
Palate: ripe darker cherry, baking spice; long finish of mineral, a light dried herbs; dry; medium- dusty tannin; medium- body; medium acidity
Overall thoughts: The nose is great, but the palate, while very good, is not a good as it lacks a bit of complexity and the tannins are very good, but not great. Great wine.

Ripe dark fruit, earthy and minerally, with adequate freshness. Still a little tight and short, so this wine still may have some time ahead of it.
