Quick double decant. Medium dark red in the glass with very slight bricking. On the nose dark red fruit, mint, alcohol, dried herbs?, gravel?. On the palate, this is a big, mouth filling wine. Initial hit of heat with sweet dark red fruit that's front and center. Integrated tannins, medium finish of tart dry fruit, tannin, and oak.
This bottle is not showing its age at all. When first opened, the tannins were much more integrated. Thirty minutes in the nose is developing very nicely but tannins are much more prominent.
Drink now? Hold? I've no idea!

30 minute decant. Long savor. Goodbye to an old friend. Last bottle of this beauty. Still beautiful though I would move on it soon as I can't tell how long is left. The fruit is back. Blackberries and dark cherry to the nose. Some smoke, leather and gravel on a warm spring rainy day. Fruit sustains on palate. Hint of mint with more pronounced cherry. Tannins are an afterthought. Almost the perfect expression of the soft AV still from the early aughts. Supple soft and elegant with a dry luxurious finish. Maybe I am feeling nostalgic but this bottle had more heft than the last two. Please drink this soon. Do not waste this wine.

On opening, still an insane amount of fruit to the nose, berries, cherry and a brambly gravel note with a wisp of smoke. Fruit takes off like TSA agent leaving for break and leaves only a smokey tobacco leather with a bit of spice but a trifle soft at this point. Quick glass tastes like an overripe Brunello with sharp cherry, tart notes and a slightly ashy tannin. Some air (45 mins) takes the tartness away without killing the fruit and makes the tannin silica gel level drying. Ashiness persists and is a completely YMMV experience but I a fan.

Same notes as before. It is fading though. Drifting softly into the sunset. Drinking almost like a barolo now with cherry notes until it opens.
