  • A little wet stone, some apricot and pear and a hint of petrol. Palate is quite austere although with a decent finish. Crispness has gone as has any real shape. Not worth keeping all these years tbh.

  • Bottle 03604. Full yellow, not quite trending to gold. Developed nose, with citrus, toast, lanolin. No kero though. The acid has faded in this bottle compared to the one I had in '19, with some slightly honied character appearing. Doesn't look 20Y old but I think time is finally catching up with this wine and for my taste I would drink soon but others may like to let it evolve even further which under screw cap and in a good cellar I am sure it will do.

  • Much better than the bottle we had 3 years ago. Nice prickle on the nose with just a hint of kerosene, under-ripe honeydew, clove, and buttered toast. Still firm and acidic in the mouth with rounded yellow citrus notes, cloves, and a long finish. Seems to be putting on weight in a good way. Drink now or short-term hold.

  • Benchmark Australian Riesling. Yellow in the glass. Vibrant nose of cut lime, nasturtium, toast, lime marmalade and just a faint hint of petrol but very mild. Fresh acidity on the palate with just a touch of honeyed development on the mid palate. Screw cap makes a huge difference of course. No rush to drink.

  • SLDS August 2018: Golden tinged. Keep, toasty vanilla, yellow florals, wax and spice. Acid tingles on the palate, showing more youthful than the nose, though it is certainly starting to round at the edges. 5 to 6 years should see it near its peak.

(Jacob's Creek Riesling Steingarten) Light lemon yellow color; very aromatic, dill, buttered toast, lime nose; rich, light toast, lime cream, mineral palate with sweetness and good balancing acidity; medium-plus finish (ageworthy Australian Riesling from a then 40-year-old hilltop vineyard) 93+ points
