Some bricking in the glass. A bit of an austere nose, but good fruit, and still fairly high tannins on the palate. Much more reserved than the 1975 that we had with this one. This one seemed more tertiary, and had really noticeable Tannins. Lower fill in this bottle, so definitely some variation. Still very good, but the 1975 wins tonight. This was a birth year wine for our hostess.

The cork looked mouldy on top, but it was gin underneath. Garnet, bordering on amaretto colour. Nose of anise with some dried red fruits. It is now delicate, but still some tannins. The finish still has some length with red fruit and anise. Enjoyable, but Definately losing strength.

level uppermost shoulder, good long cork, some fine floating sediment despite standing upright for a week, distinctly brown colour, decanted 2 hours in advance, lovely warm, enveloping, fine and enticing nose, wonderfully complex, typical St Julien finesse and red fruit character, palate beautifully resolved, smooth and glides across the palate from front to back, quite lean with a perfect interplay between acidity and resolved tannin at the finish, long and with a lovely lingering aftertaste, a bottle in top condition, fine aged Bordeaux (12%!)

(Branaire-Ducru) Just perfect. Glorious nose of tobacco, cassis, tar, leather, red berries. Classic St. Julien. Amazingly sweet cassis fruit on the palate with soft, powdery tannins and a long finish. Perfectly mature. Drink up.

Very good and very much alive. Lots of secondary flavors bit so great, especially with some awesome food.

V4. Beautiful wine. Took a long decant to settle down acid. Still very lively.
