mature Bordeaux wine evening (at Rokah 73 restaurant): Saturated cork from end to end. transparent light brown, bright and shining great barn-leather earthy aroma, with some spice-herbal note med bodied, soft integrated tannins, light fruitiness, beautifully balanced and harmonious with flavours of black current, sour cherry with hints of chocolate and vanilla. Great wonderful wine, the only weak point being I felt it dropped off a little in the finish. still quite enjoyable.
40th Birthday Party (Home (Singapore)): Medium, ruby appearance. Bricking but actually still quite deep in colour. Medium nose of leather, game, dark fruit, soup, Great nose. Very pure fruit up front and still quite fresh. Lovely charge in the aftertaste with lovely acidity and delicate tannin. I would confuse this for a younger burgundy if tasted blind. It’s ready to drink and won’t improve from here but is drinking great now. Decanted for 2 hours.

(Branaire-Ducru) Just perfect. Glorious nose of tobacco, cassis, tar, leather, red berries. Classic St. Julien. Amazingly sweet cassis fruit on the palate with soft, powdery tannins and a long finish. Perfectly mature. Drink up.
(Chateau Branaire-Ducru St Julien) A good depth of colour. Powerful nose of mature fruit. A full, sweet, powerful palate, still with some spicy tannins. It has balance too. Firmly put together but rounded and approachable. Clean finish.
(Chateau Branaire-Ducru St Julien) There is more age apparent here, this wine bearing a tawny rim. Still plenty of life in it yet, though. A floral, elegant nose, with a hint of toffee. Delightful texture on the palate, which is packed with fruit and has a nicely integrated tannic structure. Wonderfully balanced acidity. This is a superb wine, although the components need more time to come together in a more harmonious fashion. It is a wine still on the way up.
