Community Tasting Notes (3)

  • Medium garnet. Fully mature: needed a good hour to decant, and open to flavors of sweet fruit and underbrush, with hints of tobacco and vanilla. Light, almost imperceptible tannins fully integrated, with soft acidity giving a gentle structure. Moderate concentration; even across the palate with a long finish of earth tones and developed berried fruits. Drink up.

  • Eighth bottle of a case. Not decanted. Light ruby-red colour, beginning to fade noticeably at the rim. But pleasantly mature, rather than alarmingly tired. Good nose (red cherries, redcurrants, tertiary notes of sousbois). Seems fresher on the palate than my last bottle - this was never a blockbuster but this one delivers better red fruit than the previous bottle, while maintaining freshness, no stewed notes. Not much tannin to speak of anymore. Some length. Good. But unlikely to improve.

  • 7th bottle from this case, although my previous notes are sparse. Not decanted. Mid-reddish-brown colour, maturing but not light. Nose of savoury red fruit, slightly stewed; also earthy, underbrush notes. Plus that hard-to-describe Pinot Noir aroma, sort of minty (although that is too simplistic). Tannins integrated on the palate, which is smooth, silky even. Medium-bodied, with soft red-fruit flavours. A slightly herbal twist on the end. Perhaps lacking slightly in length. Good, but quite expensive for the quality.
