  • Opened at Sumi, Noosa Junction. This was a lovely bottle of aged Burgundy that showed both the richness of 1990 and the distinctive gaminess of NSG framed by the pure winemaking of Chevillon. The colour was rusty red with some suspended solids while the nose demonstrated beautiful characters of ripe plums, red cherries and strawberry backed with that game and horsiness that comes with classic NSG. The palate had lovely texture and a core of sweet red fruit that continued into the nicely mineral finish that provide balance and length to all that taste ! An excellent and pure old Burgundy with plenty of fruit to warm the heart.

  • Didn’t have much experience of drinking win from this producer. Had a glass after the wine was being opened for 2-3 hours, on the nose, dark fruits, brown tea leaves, roasted herbs, and modest smoke, on the palate, strong underlying structure yet the tannin was chewy but not intense and there was some acidity into finish. Certainly more traditional and rustic style in wine making, fruits seemed a bit fading, I felt it was a bit peakish in wine condition.

  • Showed some plum, tea, earth, soy sauce, minerals and iron on the nose. Correctly identified it as a 90 nsg in blind. The rusticity and ripeness were the giveaway. Palate showed some earthiness and plumminess with high acidity. A classic nsg but unlikely to improve from here with more aging. Drink up. The first 30 mins were the most enjoyable with more freshness. As the night progressed, the plum fruit started to dominate a bit more. 90-91

  • On the decline but still holding up. Decent amount of bricking and the nose is fully mature. Nose is more interesting than the palate for me. Trying to figure out if I actually like this wine. It is one of those wines that you drink it, and scratch your head wondering if it was good or not?!? A good effort but I’m leaning on this wine has seen better days...

  • Medium red ruby in color with slight bricking at the edges. Full, forward and fragrant nose of complex, well-developed & mature, ripe fruit aromas of cherries, strawberries, red currants with earthy overtones, mushrooms, meaty, hints of sous-bois, exotic spices notes of cinnamon and licorice, forest floor, dried herbs, minerals and just a hint of vanilla in the background. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of smooth textured, complex, well developed & mature, ripe red fruits flavors of cherries, raspberries & currants with earthy, mushrooms, spices, minerals, herbs and a touch of vanilla. Long lingering finish. At its peak of development & quite enjoyable at present. Any further development from additional aging is doubtful.
