Mid to lighter red color with a tinge of orange at the rim. 30 minute decant. The first smell is of faint animal with some blackberry and tobacco mixed in. This is a medium bodied wine with all the tannins now gone. The berry, earth and tobacco and fennel become more pronounced with air and time. This is beautifully integrated today and has shed its youth. I am sure it will hold like this for awhile but there is no reason to wait. Beautiful. Drink this with a lighter meal - chicken, veal, pork, a non-grilled beef. It is too light to combat a heavy red meat.

Lovely black and red fruit, herbs, spice, caramel. Mid-weight but rich dark fruit on the palate. Christmas cake spice. Nice balance on the finish, all the element still there. These are never the most refined of wines but so delicious.

Deep ruby red. Sweet dark ripe fruits, smooth even Medium weight, smooth long palate, ripe plums and fruitcake, licorice, tar spice, herbal zest, meat stock, a seamless experience. Complex, but very well balanced, delicious. Still lots of tannins, but creamy textured. Drinking beautifully now but has the bones to go another decade.

Perfect now. No signs of age at all, in either color or taste. Leather, plum, tobacco. Excellent secondary flavors but nowhere near over the hill. This is peak drinking right now, and expect it will stay there for a few years. But you can't go wrong with it right now. Outstanding.

Perfect now. Slightly poopy smell, which I liked, followed by wood, tar, cigar. Excellent.
