  • This is a really fun, tasty wine at a great price. Dark purple and ruby in appearance, it does not show any sign of aging. The nose is a medium to pronounced mix of black fruit, blueberries with a sweet floral element. It reminded me of a gardenia, but the wine-maker's notes say lavender. It has a little bit of a vegetal character, but it is very aromatic. The Zin, Mouvedre, Petit Syrah and Syrah blend give it plenty of character. The flavors are consistent with the nose and highlight black fruit, black pepper and vanilla. It has medium acidity, with grippy, drying tannins and a lot of alcohol. Still, it is not as full-bodied as you might think. It falls somewhat flat in the mid-palate and has a medium to long finish. Overall, this is a very tasty wine, that is fun to drink by itself or pairs well with hearty foods. Drink now or hold it for another year or two.

  • Made from a blend of 42% Zinfandel (Dry Creek and Russian River Valley), 30% Mourvèdre (Russian River Valley), 20% Petite Sirah (Mendocino County) and 8% Syrah (Sonoma Valley) this wine is aged in French oak for 14 months and given this years blend it's probably more accurately called Zin Mo!

Rich purple in the glass I found intense blueberry and jammy blackberry aromas surrounded by a slightly rustic backdrop on the nose. The palate is pretty forward - plenty of rich dark berry fruit, tobacco and well integrated oak.

    An interesting and tasty blend.

  • Lovely blend of Zin, Mouvedre, Syrah. Stout Zin backbone of big black fruits, tempered with a little earth from the mouvedre and floral accents from the Syrah. This is what I would deem a crowd friendly wine and it would pair well with almost anything with enough flavor to stand up to the zin.

    Great deal for the price!

  • The wine rep told me this compares to the Ridge Lytton Springs. That is a big statement, and not totally accurate. but has some merit. The Ridge is true old time field blend, this wine is assembled from various batches. But who cares it still tastes great. The addition of some Mouvedre brings some body and structure. The Petit Sirah makes it's own contribution to power and complexity. Only mildly oaky, everything seems well integrated. Lots of roasted red raspberry and blackberry fruit. No doubt about the 15% alcohol. Nice finish.
