this is classic brunello. showing some age on the edges with a wonderful beautiful nose of ripe cherry and plum. on the palate this wine is velvety, earthy and has a hint of spice. Nice acidity level and velvety tannins. I popped this bottle tonite after i saw the drinking window on cellar tracker of 2003-2008. i thought to myself there's no way this wine is over the hill, these brunello's will last and last (most of them) - you just have to be open to the softening tannins and secondary aromas as they age and change. based on previous reviews, this wine somewhat misunderstood and under appreciated in my opinion. There's another 5 years of quality drinking left here.

nose - barrel (per eva), mushroom, prune mouth - fully mature. drink up. full of secondary characteristics - earth, mushroom, per mom a dry sherry, orange rind, sour cherry. complex and quite lovely, but others though it was over the hill.

Becoming more balanced and refined. Everything is should be. Starting to be more expressive with some tobacco, smoke, and a hint of raisin wrapped in light cherry-- silky smooth and long.

Dinner with Craig Haserot - Sojourn Cellars (Vinci - Chicago): Dark ruby in color with aromas of smoke, cherry and earthy notes. Palate has medium body with firm tannins that keep this tight and compressed. Chocolate, earth and dark fruits lie beneath the structure. Still needs time. 91+

Seemed a little closed. Fruit was a little muted but still nice.
