Deb's Birthday Bash: Rich vanilla and mineral notes, good citrus and orchard fruit. touch of green papaya/ unripe mango. mid is full of spice and coconut. very young. racy acidity. deep note of tropical citrus but finishes dry. with time - white peach over vanilla and more green apple. needs time. excellent.
My only regret is not having hours to watch the La Forest open even more than it did. The nose showed a perfect mix of subtle oak contrasted by a bouquet of flower petals, smoke, and slate with hints of fresh toast and mango skins, turning richer and sweeter with time in the glass. On the palate, it showed mineral intensity with gorgeous weighty textures giving way to notes of flower petal, stone and light broth. Citrus lingered on the finish with palate-staining minerality and a hint of copper penny.
Hay color. Lemon and hint of oak on nose. Palate was balanced with minerals and mellow acidity. Lemon and caramel on long finish. Best just slightly chilled. Can certainly last, but already an excellent complement to a meal. I like Chablis young and fresh, and that caramel on finish worries me about keeping these.
