Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 91 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 7 notes)

Tasted by mreinitz on 1/5/2010 & rated 90 points: Earthy sweet cherry and dark fruit. Sort of a typical midrange Washington State blend -- enjoyable but not a great QPR. (219 views)
Tasted by jaimetown on 12/28/2009 & rated 90 points: Christmas 2009 with Washington State Wines: Opened 30 minutes before consumption (no decant) - more red than black fruits on the color spectrum, those not by much. The Cabernet Franc shows through nicely with the tobacco notes, and the wine is very well balanced and drinking wonderfully. (237 views)
 Tasted by Jen_otto on 12/26/2009 & rated 96 points: (161 views)
Tasted by manonthemoon on 11/18/2009 & rated 90 points: (43% Cab Franc, 33% Cab Sauv, Merlot): Much different than the last few vintages as the Franc dominates this wine. Nose of plum, lavender, little vanilla, and banana peppers. Palate of candied black cherry, mixed berries, earth, and jalapeņo pepper. Good bottle, but I would have rather of had the CF single varietal with it being this dominate. 90 (350 views)
Tasted by ebohling on 11/11/2009 & rated 89 points: (295 views)
Tasted by Triplet on 10/13/2009 & rated 91 points: (339 views)
Tasted by RPerro on 9/12/2009 & rated 91 points: Oregon Wine Country Tasting (Willamette Valley, OR): 24% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Franc, and 33% Cabernet Sauvignon from Yakima Valley. Very young and tight...lots of drying tannins and bright acidity. The fruit is there too, in the form of gobs of earthy blackberries, but this wine is needing time to come together. Very disjointed right now. Hopefully we will see some progress in 6-12 months. I personally would hold this one until 2011. (524 views)

With vineyards throughout the Pacific Northwest, Owen Roe, named after a 17th century Irish patriot who dedicated his life to political equality and freedom, is owned and run by Jerry Owen and David O'Reilly (winemaker). Their aim is to source only the very best fruit from top sites in Oregon and Washington, handle it gently in the winery, and produce wines of superior balance and quality.
From winery: This wine is designed to showcase the world-class Merlot and Cabernet-Franc grapes of the Yakima Valley. The fruit is from several small vineyards from the cooler western end of the region, where the long days of sunshine and moderate temperatures in the evening conspire to produce lush aromatic grapes with lovely acidity and low ph. The bright berry Merlot and fragrant notes of Cabernet-Franc are wonderfully framed by the structure and acidity of the Cabernet Sauvignon, creating a beautiful mouth filling and deeply aromatic wine. Blend: 43% Cabernet Franc, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot.
