Nose: red fruits, tar, fermented soy Notes: Considering the weak vintage I think the wine was well made and maintained its elegance. A typical nose of barolo was showing and it is drinking quite nicely now. I have considered Sandrone to be one of the more delicate makers of barolo and have always been a fan of his. Yet Barolo can sometimes be tricky because new vintages are not always approachable with noticeable or even unbearable amount of tannin if consumed too young. Weak vintages will be a good place to start and arguably you can see the skills of the wine makers during weak vintages. Drink: now - 2025 Rating: 90

JB @ Hereford Road (Hereford Road, London): Very mute on the nose. Smooth, mellow. Very floral and fragrant on the palate with air. Plush texture with some alcohol underpinning it. Drink up. ***1/2

Sandrone Barolo Tasting (McCarthy & Schiering): quite soft and a bit burgundian. maybe past peak. glides over the palate effortlessly with delicate perfumed nose and dried rosehips palate.

Mid to full garnet. Leather, fallen rose petals, a touch of beef and some sous bois. Quite fat and leggy in the glass; rounded and smooth, good acidity, mellow and quite long. Lovely. ***1/2

Disappointing, maybe overaged: Lacking expression. Fine but only vague scents of fruit, herbs etc.
Burgundian in structure, but very light with a short finish.
