What a pleasant surprise. I've had some not very good Etnas lately and was counting on this to come through but it did. Nose is big with black cherry, menthol and dark spice. Palate is redolent of leather, spice, tartness that really keeps the big fruit completely controlled. Ends with an enduring tingly spiceness, which just barely include a little tannic quality. Really nice juice.
The nose showed vibrant cherry and exotic spice with secondary notes of mint leaf, gravel and dried florals. On the palate, it was closed at first, yet opened to reveal medium-weight, elegant, and polished red fruits, earth and inner floral notes with wonderfully balanced acidity, which kept this juicy and fresh throughout. The finish showed tart fruits as the mouth continued to water, with hints of herbs and spice. This is a beautiful wine that is just entering its drinking window.
Out of Magnum: Ligth red. Nose of raspberry, smoke and hints of cherry. All remids a lot of Pinot. Nice sweetness and acidity but all a bit simple. The wine had still some tannin. So I guess it will benefit from further bottle age.
