drank from magnum and decanted the wine for an hour. Initail nose was muted and the taste was tight. Opened up and dramactically changed into an asesome flavor.

We started with the 2003 Aubert Reuling Vineyard Chardonnay. Nice, barely cloudy golden color, and those Aubert characteristic (at least to me) aromas of smoky, nutty, citrus oils and fruit blossoms (this time, peach and orange), along with the slightest hint of petrol, were readily available. In the mouth, it exhibited just a little bit more oak-y vanilla than I expected, with an also unexpected touch of tropical fruit to go with the beautiful smoke and lemon and orange oils. Wonderful mineral-ly feel with nice crisp acidity leading to a long and satisfying finish.

Aubert Tasting and Dinner (My home - Chicago IL): Tropical fruit aromas with new oak hints. Big and powerful stone fruit and tropical fruit flavors, all very ripe but in good balance. Big and powerful, but a bit too ripe on finish.

Aubert Tasting (Alan's): Flt #2 - Electric pale yellow color with green tint. Clean bright nose of white fruit with a tropical int. Tight (still!) yellow fruit with some mineral - a bit prickly and structured even still. 92+ pts.

Burgundy Al's Aubert Dinner - Near Complete Vertical / Horizontal (Chicago, IL): Clean nose has tropical fruits and smoke. Palate has smooth rich fruit and bright acidity. Heat tries to poke through but is just barely kept at bay. Tropical fruit and minerals. Nice acidic kick.
