Medium Brick, a touch cloudy. Mature aromas of earthy notes, autumn leaves, touch of red fruit and after 20 min in the glass some luvage notes (oxidative tones) start to emerge. Good complexity still but with 25+ years not much Burgundy typicity left with tertiary aromas dominating. Past peak, drink up.

(thanks to LS, perfect fill, her cellar is perfect and very cold. Cork intact with Durand removal but crumbly. Pop and pour). Pale red-touch of brown edge, red and black fruit nose, very Nuits St. Georges, mix of fruits and minerals and sous bois, still has some spine and developed over 2 hours. Likely peaked 5-10 years ago and will hold, but would drink in next 5. Slight touch of bitterness in the very long finish. Marvelous with food.

Wow - what an amazing bottle of wine! I purchased this on release and have held onto it since then. When I received it there was already some seepage present, but never got worse. The cork was soaking wet and basically disintegrated during the opening process. None of this made me optimistic, but much to my surprise and delight, the wine was spectactular! Brownish-purple color with an almost clear meniscus. VERY barnyard nose - with mushrooms, earth and a bit of tobacco. Medium weight, smooth and balanced on the palate with finely grained, drying tannins that grab ahold of your tongue and simply don't let go. Perhaps the most striking thing was the intensity, depth and length of the flavors. More plum than berry, but also with red berries in the background and a finish that lasts for 30+ seconds. Probably a bit past its peak, but still outrageously good. Right up there with the very best burgundy wines.
