The nose was not typical Bass Phillips. It had some sweetness and soy sauce with flowers, tobacco, herbs and oak. The palate was lush and a bit too sweet but lack of focus, with some bitterness in the aftertaste. Drink now. 2004 vintage was much better.

Very different to typical fruit driven Aussie pinot. Has a bit of age so fruit is subtle; plums and spice on the nose. Plenty of acid and tannins which are balanced nicely. An Aussie take on burgundy, I wish I had a lot more of these.

10x20 Victorian Tasting (Customs House, Sydney, Australia): Cherry, plum and some leather and spice - reminded me more of a wine in the medium aged Hunter Valley mould on the nose. The palate is extremely elegant and restrained, just hinting at some sweet fruit in the background. Good length with the tannins providing plenty of grip. Drink over the next 4-5 years.

Decanted for 2 hours. Excellent Pinot. Traditional Burgundy style. Gorgeous fruit with soft tannins.

Unusual. Burgundian and fruit driven aspects. Peacock's tail finish.
