Honeyed nose with baked apple, cucumber peel, fresh herbs, floral notes and warm spices. Nicely dried and balanced palate with rich and pure fruit expression of pear to greenish banana. Honey, spices and liquorice. Good length finish with a bitter bite. Finely aged wine with still many years left.
This wine is in an amazing place right now. PNP. Color gold. Nose floral. Fruit still really rich and bordering on sweet but softening. Great structure. Finish lengthy. Lots of life ahead. Amazing match with butternut squash lasagna tonight. No rush on these. Wait for the perfect match.
Half bottles for Thai food offline (King's Heath, Birmingham): There's a bit of buttery, lychee gewurz nose here, but it's very muted and flat. Good balance on the palate, but it's flat and very ordinary feeling. Returning to this bottle the next day, it was very clear that this bottle was corked, although it was far from obvious when first opened.
