  • Well, decent experience, and mirrors my last and others, but maybe a tad more enjoyable. Has nice subtle complexity, balanced dark berry fruit and light oak. I would try the latest vintages - you likely won't find this anymore.

  • i totally agree with other reviews - but this bottle has less fruit and some more earth and oak and a little less complex...maybe this is getting old. It is smooth with light acid and tannins such that easy to drink solo. 22$ CAN and dont think this is worth it.

  • Very dark purple-red - almost looks like a Touriga Nacional. The nose is reminiscent of Touriga Nacional, as well, with notes of light raspberry floating over a base of dark, thick blackberry and currant, with meat and wood smoke underneath. Oak is quite evident, and although it is complex on the nose, this wine smells pretty extracted. The overwhelming taste is of raspberry sauce - sweet and tart at the same time, with plenty of reduction and plenty of sugar. There is quite a lot of oak treatment hiding this wine. The wine is not nearly as complex on the palate as it is on the nose. The finish is medium length but fades to a coffee-grounds bitterness. Not a bad wine, but just too extracted and too simple without the elegance and balance to justify the purchase price. It isn't a rip-off, exactly, but I expect more for my Jackson. One thing, though: This has substantial structure to it. The upside is limited, but it may actually improve a bit with another year or two behind it. It is better with some air time, as well.

  • 6/25/10: Fruit forward. Some chalk, earth. Lots going on here. Very fun wine, but a little different. Not for everyone, but a great wine for the adventurous. 88

5/7/10: Lots of berries, and funk on the nose. Really fun aromas. Soft, with some chalkiness on the palate. Quite fun, and tasty stuff. The acidity is a bit low, but it still works. 87+
