A real treat to have this - thanks Chris G. Right away in the glass the look of this wine portends the black-fruited flavors you will encounter. On the nose, unfortunately, this bottle showed a bit of oxidation. On the palate though, this is composed and elegant, with an earthiness that is uniquely Oregon. Given the black-fruited quality this reflects great restraint in the ripeness level. Notes of charcoal smoke and a bit of spice are very subtly in there as well. Very nice wine and easy winner on the night. Would love to know if other bottles out there are able to avoid the slight oxidation on the nose, in which case this wine would be even higher on my scale.

American Pinot - a much needed education: Opened with sweet ripe blackberry and ripe fruit, but with time more of mushroom and earth came out. Perfumed, floral notes as well. berry and zing on the mid - good acidity keeping the ripe wine in balance. very long sweet/sour finish with a bit of spice and zing.
Day 2 - more earthy and meaty - barolo notes of roses and wet earth. gorgeous today... showing its potential for even longer age. mid is leaner today with more structure and savory touch. turning from black to red fruit. cherry comes to mind but with a touch of steak juice :) long finish - sleek and refreshing. this is a beauty by any standard.

Exceptional bottle of wine of this vintage; it drank beautifully amongst friends outside on our patio and eveyone thought it was big, complete, great flavor and surprised that a bottle this age could hold up so well.

Nothing spectacular about this. I take the blame, as it was probably too late for the wine. If you have it, drink it - because it was once a great wine, and now teeters on average.

Starting to fade just a little but still quite beautiful.
