Recalcitrant nose at first. Opens up to some blood iron, pepper and mushrooms. The palate is pretty special. Not an old wine in any way: plenty of sweetness left in a broad, long and seamlessly integrated package. Burgundian. Drink now.
I would have guessed as a Hermitage. Nice concentration are balanced by nice acidity, very fresh, dry herbs, licorice, smoked meat. It gained complexity and I liked it more and more as the night progressed.
