Oh! Was this beautiful with three hours' air in a 2007 Barbaresco / Barolo side-by-side next to the 2007 Giovanni Corino Barolo Vigneto Arborina. Both were balanced and bright but fairly rich as the hot season would imply. And each offered it's own well woven acid and nice ripe tannins, many more of which were in the Barolo. This barbaresco was a little prettier, a little more feminine, and took a little longer on the tongue to show its complexity. Great with or without food. No reason to hold but could go a few more years -2025

A light brick color. Quite fragrant leather, tobacco, dark baked fruit. Entry is tart fruit with a fair bit of tannins coming early. Unfortunately a bit of alcohol showing through at the finish without enough fruit backdrop to mask it. Perhaps this is past its best age at this point. Last bottle. A good complex wine with a lot of earthiness.

High toned red fruits, with overripe strawberry, raspberry and floral notes. Visually looks appropriate for its age with faint bricking around the rim. Flavors of ripe raspberry, tar, menthol, and a prominent streak of oak. Tannins are drying, yet well integrated into the wine.
This wine needs another 5 years to show its best. Right now, the oak is too prominent, though I do not suspect it will ever become a standout on account of the overripe fruit.

(Cigliuti Barbaresco Serraboella) Medium dark red violet color; dried berry, light fig, tart black fruit nose; tight, tart dried berry, tart black fruit, coffee, incipient ginger cake palate; could use 3 years; medium-plus finish (chalky soil; 60% Slovenian oak and 1-2 yr old barriques)

Piemonte - mature Barolo & Barbaresco (at my home): Good solid Barbaresco - but less than expected.

Open up over 4 hours... mild red aromas, medium/full body, dried cherry flavors, medium tannins, moderate acid, chewable finish
