France 2011 Roadtrip tasting: Wow! What a wine. Really beautiful golden color. Just by swirling you can tell that this has richness and viscosity. On the nose really intense candied citrus, sultanas, honeysuckle and hint of petrol. Big and bold on the palate with really good balance of sweetness and acidity. Long elegant aftertaste. Such a treat with foie gras on brioche.

I would call this a (92) in brackets. The problem was that this bottle still had some CO2 in it. A small shot of bubbles at the start and in the first sip some fizz on the tongue. Well, I thought, that was that. But the taste behind the fizz was so good that we decided to stick with it. Good choice because sip for sip the fizz vanished and the wine which emerged was still drinkable and lovely. Slight sweetness, super ripe fruit, viscous on the palate. Will not write much more as this flaw did likely inhibit the full enjoyment. But by the last 3 or 4 sips would not have noticed anything.

Leiden End of the Winter Tasting: Golden colour. Nose petrol and sweet fruit. Taste very energetic, lively acidity, fruits, nuts, long finish. Very balanced.

Holy cow! Deep gold colour, viscous on the palate. In the nose petroleum, sultana raisins, dried fruits. A fair amount of sweetness but underlied by a perfect acidity. Fantastic.
