SFwine blind and not-blind tasting at Tom's (San Francisco, CA): Nose of coffee grounds, bruised strawberries, tobacco. Medium acidity on the palate with strawberry, cherry, blood/iron. Slightly drying finish, though i missed the structure until i swalled some (i was mostly spitting). Initially sort of anonymous but it fleshed out nicely in the glass. I couldn't place this, guessed southern Rhone (lol). Very surprised it was Napa cab as the fruit wasn't at all what i'd have expected; clearly the style belongs to a lost age in Napa. Good, but i thought it a little chunky and foursquare and wasn't as fond/nostalgic as most other tasters present. Tasted blind.
